Australian beer
Victoria Bitter or VB as it’s fondly known, has a tradition of rewarding hard work and hard play, dating back to the 1890s. Over the last 10 years, it’s been a consistent winner in the esteemed Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA), more recently picking up “Best Full Strength Beer” in 2001, “Tap Beer of the Year” in 2002, and “Best Full Strength Beer” again in 2003. VB is a full flavored brew, less malty in character and slightly darker than CUB’s traditional lagers. A gentle fruitiness in the aroma complements the sweet malt on the mid-palate balancing perfectly with a robust, hop bitterness. Carlton Draught is a traditionally brewed draught lager. It is brewed with sun-ripened Australian barley malt for smoothness and hopped with Carlton’s own special ‘Pride’ variety for an emphatic edge. Cool fermented with Carlton’s unique pure culture yeast for an easy-drinking palate, Carlton Draught has a true refreshing after-taste.
Melbourne Bitter's fruity/yeasty aroma and increased bitterness produces a stronger, drier finish to this beer that appeals to those that prefer less sweet, stronger-tasting beers. Brewed to maintain full flavour, Carlton Light is a lightly coloured lager style beer with a distinct malt character which is complemented by a full bodied mouth feel and clean hop bitterness. Balanced by a pleasant slightly yeasty aroma, Carlton Light presents the beer drinker with a true lager with reduced alcohol content.

James Boag's Premium Lager is a European style lager brewed from the finest quality pilsener malts. This beer is fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers and employs an extended maturation period. These combine with a mixture of kettle and late hopping to yield a crisp pale lager that perfectly complements fine food. James Boag's Premium Lager has won wide acclaim since its launch in 1994, winning numerous awards recognising the high quality of this world class brew. This superb lager, coupled with the distinctive black and white Helmut Newton advertising campaign, has made James Boag's Premium Lager appreciated as Australia's best premium beer. Pale Ale has a clean, bitter taste that is quite different from its northern rivals, particularly Boag's Premium from Launceston which is much sweeter.
With its fruity and floral characters, balanced with a crisp bitterness, Coopers Pale Ale has a compelling flavour which is perfect for every occasion. Naturally fermented in the “Burton-upon-Trent” style, a secondary fermentation creates the trademark sediment that gives ‘Pale’ its fine cloudy appearance.

With its famous cloudy sediment and its distinctive balance of malt, hops and fruity characters, the old ‘Red Label’ is a tasty slice of Coopers history. Little has changed since Thomas Cooper produced his first batch of Coopers Sparkling Ale in 1862. It’s still brewed naturally using the century old top fermentation method and it still tastes great!

Without a doubt, Crown Lager is one of Australia’s most iconic brands. It is the country’s original premium beer and continues to outsell any other premium beer on the market. Crown Lager had an auspicious start. It was launched to the Australian consumer in June 1953 to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Prior to that it was available only to an exclusive group of individuals made up of diplomats and visiting dignitaries. It’s the special care taken to select only the choicest Australian barley and the best Pride of Ringwood hops, along with the attention to detail in the brewing process, like the extended lagering, that creates this premium beer. This helps produce the creamy fruitiness, rich malty mid-palate and crisp clean hop finish to deliver Crown Lager’s distinctive, full flavoured premium lager taste. The brand’s understated elegance has seen it emerge as an icon – a classic in its own right. Fifty years on, people with something to celebrate – no matter how big or small the occasion – still mark the moment with a Crown Lager.

The N.T. (Northern Territory) Stubby, or more affably known as the Darwin stubby, was introduced in 1958. It is the largest commercially produced beer bottle in the World - indeed a collectors item!!!

The unique flavour of Foster's Lager, Australia's best known beer, is the result of the choicest of malt, sugar, hops and brewing yeast. A light coloured lager-style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, this is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability. The special light-stable hop extract used in this beer allows it to be packed in clear glass bottles. The unique flavour is due to the Ice Brewing technique which produces a smoother, purer and more refreshing beer.

Since its launch in 1988, Hahn Premium has grown to be Australia's second largest premium beer brand. A contemporary premium beer, it was awarded "Grand Champion" medal at the 1999 Liquorland Australian International Beer Awards, and has continued to win gold medals in the Lager category each year since. Hand crafted with higher malt levels and a blend of three special hops, Hahn Premium Lager is a true premium beer. Hahn Premium is brewed using genuine German Hersbrucker hops, grown on the Hersbruck Hills North of Munich. The German hops add a high aroma value to the brew, with a relatively low level of bitterness. The hops are added very late in the brewing process to highlight their aromatic quality and provide a fresh, green and herbacous aroma. Hahn Premium Light is a superior tasting light beer that is brewed for full flavour and refreshment. The outstanding taste is achieved through modern brewing techniques, using the combination of imported hops and the finest Australian malt. It is Australia's favourite premium light and has won more internationally recognised awards for excellence than any other light beer.
Pure Blonde is a full strength beer (4.6 % ABV) that is not made in the US ‘lite beer’ style. Pure Blonde retains a full flavoured, clean and crisp taste profile and is made in an easy drinking style. The combination of a great tasting beer and low-carb content is surely the answer many health and lifestyle conscious beer lovers have been seeking. So what is ‘low-carb’? If you overeat, that is, consume excess energy that you do not burn off during everyday activity and exercise, the body responds by storing this energy as fat. Reducing the intake of carbohydrates reduces your energy intake, therefore assisting in weight loss, as long as it is done within a balanced diet and with regular exercise. Pure Blonde contains only 0.9 grams of carbohydrates per 100mL (or 125kj / 100mL) - a significant reduction to a standard full strength beer that on average contains around 20 % more energy (155kj / 100mL or 3g / 100mL), yet the same alcohol content. But the master brewers of Pure Blonde have ensured that there is no reduction in taste.

Redback is modelled on the weizen beers of southern Germany where, for centuries, this style of beer has been popular, particularly in summer when its refreshing qualities come into their own. Australia's long hot summers provide ample opportunity to enjoy weizen-style beers and, as one of the world's largest producers of wheat, there are "Hectares of Beer" at our disposal. Brewing wheat beer is a little more difficult compared to other beer. However, that just seems to make it more worthwhile when you get the recipe right. Redback started life as a Matilda Bay seasonal beer called "Summer Wheat" in 1986. It became so popular that we had to make it a permanent part of our portfolio and for almost 20 years it has been the benchmark Australian wheat beer. Back in the 80s, the sales of many beers were confined to their state of origin, but Redback carved out its place in the national beer market, not only as Australia's Original Wheat Beer, but as Australia's first specialty beer, and probably one of the first truly national beers. In 1993 Redback was awarded Grand Champion at the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA). It has continued to collect a number of awards over the years - in fact, in 2003, it won yet another Gold Medal in the wheat beer class at the AIBA.

Launched in 1990 and brewed by an original method which balances the unique flavour and colour of crystal malt with the subtle bitterness of selected hops. The colour is dark, the head is persistent and texture creamy. Its dry finish is achieved by an extended fermentation, ensuring minimal residual fermentable sugars. This is what gives Tooheys Extra Dry such a clean aftertaste. Tooheys Extra Dry proudly supports the Big Day Out - the largest music festival in the southern hemisphere. Tooheys Extra Dry is also making waves as supporters of the Australasian Surf Pro Tour. Following the infamous "The Quest" ad which featured a tongue with a serious thirst, the new ad makes a splash with three household appliances battling it out for the clean, crisp taste.

Brewed by Tooheys since 1931, Tooheys New's defining characteristic is its smooth, refreshing, easy drinking taste. Its lightly hopped, malty character delivers the perfect balance of bitter and sweet beer flavours. It is low in effervescence to enhance refreshment - ensuring that each sip tastes as good as the first.

The beer is lightly hopped and black malt gives it darker colour. The fruity ale-like esters blend well with the subtle hoppiness and hints of coffee/chocolate to deliver a unique beer.
Brewed with Saaz hops from the Czech Republic to give a light, refreshing beer with a crisp, hoppy finish without a lingering aftertaste.

Red Bitter is a full bodied bitter lager brewed from the finest natural ingredients. The flavours of the finest Australian malt and hops produce a smooth, malty flavour with a tangy bitter finish.

One Australian summer, legendary chief brewer, Bill Leitner, decided to brew a beer that could really cut through a tough Aussie thirst. So instead of the traditional ales that were still brewed in Australia at the time, he developed a new lager-style beer with a crisp, bitter taste – perfect for drinking icy-cold in the harsh Australian climate. Better than any ‘XXX’ beer of the time, it deserved a fourth X to indicate its superior quality – and the XXXX BITTER legend was born. So next time you’re having a XXXX BITTER, raise a glass to Bill. ‘Cause thanks to him, Aussies have the perfect beer that’s tough on thirst.
